Tire Question

I've got a 94 Toyota 4wd extra cab 3.0 v6 with Uniroyal Liberator a\t 31x10.5x15 never seen winter as it was in Arizona all it's life and have about half tread left. The truck is now in northeast Ontario and we have snow for 7 months of the year. I have been thinking of getting Goodyear Duratracs of the same size. So my question is are these tires going to be good for snow\ice, will they decrease my already sucky power and fuel economy or should I go to a more narrow tire. I've read good reviews on this tire.

Haven't personally run them, but I have friends that have and they liked them. Balancing was an issue on one set, but another friend had no issues to speak of. I ran Wrangler ATS(?) on a 3/4ton diesel I had. I loved them.

I was a BFG guy, but have recently converted to the Toyos. Good siping for water/ice, deep lugs for everything else.

Look at the Cooper Discoverer. Super price good reviews. Great tread pattern.

I have DTs they are great tires. I have them on a full time 4wd land cruiser though so I can't comment in 2wd/part time 4wd traction for ice and snow. For me they have done everything ive asked them to do on every terrain available except sand yet. Lots if people these days say they are one if the best tires for winter driving right now. This is subjective of course.

As for the weight they most likely weigh more and do cost more so think about it. These days though there are plenty of great AT tires that came out in the past few years. You have other options if you like
