Tire Pressure Monitor

Tire Pressure Monitor
Just thought I'd pass along info on a product I've been using now for about 6 years.
I was never able to get the wife to show any concern about tire pressure, so naturally I'd be checking her tires for her on a somewhat regular basis.
I stumbled across a solution for her '85 4wd PU at my local Kragen's. It is a replacement cap for the standard valve cap. With a glance, you can tell whether the minimum pressure is present. If the tire is leaking, the bright green will show a yellow line which you can see just walking buy the tires.
I live up in the mountains, where we drive 4miles on dirt, 8 miles total, every time we leave the hill. The typical failure, which of course is rare, is a slow leak. So catching this kind of failure within a day or so, is of some value.
You can purchase them in a range of 26lbs to 60lbs from JCWhitney. Kragen's happened to have them in the most common values on the day I purchased my first set, but my '94 4Runner wants 50lbs, which I was able to purchase here: http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...essure+monitor
Now the wife checks her own tires, so if there is a problem, I get to deal with it right away, before she leaves for town. I view these things as a must have safety item, like good windshield wipers, except the pressure monitors don't wear out.
Just wanted to pass on an inexpensive gadget that I've found useful. I have no interest in promoting JCWhitney, I'm sure you can get these things lots of places. Check it out.
