Tire pressure

I have Goodyear Wrangler RT/S tires for now, until I can afford some BFG All Terrains (will be a while). I run them around 35 PSI, is it necessary for me to air down if when I go offroading, not in mud or anything, but sometimes roads with some rocks and a lot of loose rock. I never have, because I have no way to reinflate them on the trail.
thanks for reading,
-Bryan

If you are not having any traction problems now you are not going to benenit much from airing down. In fact I would not do it if your only going on the conditions you described. Airing down is harder on the tires on rough stuff. If your not doing wheeling which requires additional traction i.e. hills or mud don't worry about it. Matt you have gotta have a good one for this.....

I would air down from 35 to 25 or 20 when off-roading. Here in the desert, there are lots of sharp jagged rocks, and the tire will "conform" to these sharp objects much better if the tire pressure is lower.

Of course, your ride height will drop, and it can be a pain to fill them back up, so keep that in mind too.
