Question regarding Bridgestone Revos and snow chains

Just wondering if someone could give me all the info on the Revo tires, ive tried looking them up but just so many different kinds. If you could just clarify with a link and distributor that would be great, also if you could give advice on some good snow chains or cables. Just got a 4runner today and trying to get stuff for it before i head to school in canada in a few weeks. Thanks.

sp,

welcome to the forum. two things:

1) please just write your question in the topic title. please re-read the forum rules about posting

2) search "revos". its a very popular topic. also, tirerack.com has good info on all tires.

take the time to search and read because you will get more out of your own research. also, the members here are a community and contribute to one another. requests to the membership for "all the info on X, Y, Z" won't really get you very far. you will get more respect and better answers if you search, read, and ask good, researched questions.

What is your question about chains? I use 'em a few times a year, mostly for backcountry travel to get to trailheads for skiing. Looking for a place to get some? Last set I bought I got online from http://www.tirechain.com.

Thanks Dave, just looking for some while im up in Canada and Montana and the weather turns pretty sour or the roads are really icy and snow filled. Just something that will not be too hard to put on and off.

where are you going to school in Canada? Im not sure if chains are really necessary if you are going to have the revos. im in thunder bay and we get a good amount of snow and some ice, and i am fine with my bfg at and 4x4. and im not sure about if the chains can be used on road.

I've got chains right now, and they do very well for the montana winters. I think either the revos or the BFG AT's are next on my list.

from what i've read about the revo's you will be fine without chains.. I use a generic AT tire and when I throw it in 4x4, i have lots of traction, no issues pulling out other vehicles stuck in 4 foot snowbanks, or travelling on glare ice (had that happen a couple times)... unless your planning to go to trailheads like dave. just take it slow, and you'll be fine.
