Places to buy tires and rims - Helpful and those to avoid

I got my 35x12.50r15 Dick Cepeks from Tirepackage.com...Lil high on price but shipping is only 29.99 for all four. cheapest shipping for reasonable priced tire. They got here (washington) in two days. They do charge tax which sucked so i paid 924 for all 4. I really wanted to get the BFG KM2 in 35s but everywhere has them on backorder and doesnt tell you till after you order and then has to credit you back a week later. I will say that discounttires.com was really fast about crediting me back for the backorderd tires.

I've ordered two sets of tires now from summit racing. They showed up earlier than promised and seem to cost $38 to ship for a set of four, regardless of the size. I've been very pleased with their service.

I'll put in another kudo's for America's tire/discount. The guys there seem to really care about what they're doing. They've always fixed my tires for free, no arguing or having to prove my case. The prices are reasonable, and they price match.
I've been to Big O, and they were terrible. I had a set of 35's on by Bronco that I wanted remounted on new rims. When they dismounted the tires from the old rims, I watched Bevis and Butthead tear up the bead of the tires. By the time I noticed, they were all wrecked. Then the manager offered me a discount on his 35's, I went home and price shopped and found out his discount price was more than a new set from just about anywhere else.

another one for Discount, been going to Discount for years, match any price out there for the same tire or even recommend a less expensive but comparable tire (usually its their tire but i found that the Pathfinder from discount was just as good if not better than BFG A/T's) will always go to Discount Tire.

I've always had good experiences with Discount Tire here in SE Michigan. One thing I like about them is that work with tirerack.com so if you find a set of tires that or wheels that they may not have in the store they can order them through the website for the same price AND you don't have to pay for shipping!!!

I've actually been satisfied with STS Tire (geographically localized in my area - TRI State NY)...However, if I know something specific I want - I also check out Mavis Tire - you can search by size and brand, really detailed product information.

I recently got a set of 33x10.5x15" BFG MT KM2s from www.onlinetires.com for $159.xx each shipped. I ordered one at a time over the course of 4 weeks, as I'm really terrible at saving money, so it was just easier for me.
The first one I ordered online, and my card was not charged and I did not hear anything from them for almost a week. I called, talked to a very helpful guy and we got it straightened out. He suggested that I call the orders in from then on. I did, and had no more problems whatsoever. On all but one occasion they'd ship the day after I'd order, and would arrive two days after that (CA to TX). The one time they didn't, he warned me on the phone when I ordered that they were waiting for another shipment, and it would be a few days.
Anyway, highly recommend, just call in instead of using the web!

How about places other than discount tire? Like tirebuyer.com? I bought my Sport Kings from them. They had great reviews and I got a great price, however, they don't give you the option to send them to your house. I don't know if any of the others do, but tirebuyer basically forced you to choose which tire shop near you to send them to. Which, in my case, was fine because it's not like I was going to mount and balance them myself
Another downside is that their website was difficult to use at times, at least for me. If you can overlook that then tirebuyer.com is worth buying your tires from.

Capital Wheels looks like a great source for OEM wheels.

Came across them searching for OEM wheel options. No experience with them. Prices and shipping seem reasonable.

onlinetires.com
I read mixed reviews about onlinetires.com but they had the best price. From what I gathered by searching online, people on 4x4 sites had pretty good reviews while the reviews on car forums seemed to be worse, which made me wonder if the truck tires are handled by a different department.
In decided to try them. I emailed to ask if they had my tires in stock. I got a reply about an hour later saying they said they did, so I placed the order online and received my tires in a few days, as promised. No problems.
(5) BFG TA KO 33x10.5R15 for $970.50 total, incl SH & CA tax

I bought my BFG KM2 M/T in 33X10.50X15 flavor from a Discount tire in Roswell, Ga. I told them at the time that I was putting on 1.5" spacers in order to clear the typical Toy brake upgrade. They said if they were spacers that utilized a lug stud, so that there was good threads for the lug nut to hang on to, they would be considered "adapters" by Discount Tire and therefore, no problem.
I have since taken my truck to other DTS stores and they won't touch it. And I called my original purchase store and they said they don't deal with spacers or adapters. Against company policy. So now the "lifetime rotate and balance" I got is useless... I have to pay someone else to rotate and balance my tires. And since it travel so much(7K miles in 3wks) it gets spendy....
So beware if you have spacers/adapters beware...
10-24-12----went to another Discount in Winter Haven, Fl. Amazing service, and they informed me that they can now work with bolt on spacers. Can't sell or recommend them, but if you have them, it's all good. They rotated and balanced my tires perfectly. I now have 37,000 miles and more than half tread left...
