Question Nitto Tires or Cooper

Alright guys another question I have a 3 inch lift coming from toytec now these are the two tires I'm fighting with.

* 305/50 R20 XL 120 S Cooper Zeon LTZ tires ~ $190.00 each
(32x12/20)

* 305/55 R20 Nitto Terra Graplers ~ $250.00 each
(33.2x12/20)
If you guys have any other recommendations let me know cause i WANT a 33x12.5 R20 Size or close to it +/- an inch or so. i just don't want to pay a grand or more for tires. I probably should go for the coopers even though they are an inch smaller. So your opinions would be nice to hear.

My opinion - you'll regret getting low profile tires on your lifted truck, and 'dubs for that matter.

tread pattern is really similar, i'd go w/ the TG. they are tried and true, reasonable $$, and easy to find. people love them in ice and snow.

The only off-roading this truck does is just to go snowboarding in the winters and also to my gun club other then that this truck is mostly for looking good . I like the nittos too its just the price I don't like. I didn't know tires would be the hardest things to decide for.

how much are the coopers, nitto's aren't very $$, any 20" tire for a truck is going to be more than a 15" or 16".

It's only the 305/55's that are expensive if i did the 305/50 they would be $100 cheaper per tire. but do you guys think it will look weird if i used the 305/50 since their would be about an inch difference in height.

I have only seen one quad runner on here that has 33X13.5R20 (343/48 R20) thats the look I'm going for. heres the link to it.

I wouldn't go any larger than 17". That will help keep the price down, and will help protect the wheels in case you accidentally smack a curb, hit a deep pothole, etc.

I've seen factory wheels with factory sized tires on them get damaged on the street. Why pay for even more expensive 20" wheels, and then pay for more expensive tires with even less tire sidewall than stock to protect them? It makes no sense.

I would go with a BFG All Terrain, which is a more proven design than either the Cooper or the Nitto. The price shouldn't be much above the price of the Cooper, and most certainly less than the Nitto.

The BFGs also have a 3 ply sidewall, which should hold up better.

Dingman you hit it right on the money why i was gonna go for the coopers. And another reason is they are big clients of ours too.
Plus I allready own 20" rims so i'm not gonna go out and buy new rims.

You've already gone against the grain by buying a 4Runner made in Japan by Japanese so buying american wouldn't settle a tire decision for me.

X the Toyota's are more American then any ford or G.M ALL the rubber parts on the Toyota's come from my companies designs so try again. thats why I bought this sweet rig.

So are my BFGs, unlike the 2 Toyotas in your signature.

I would prefer to buy American myself. However, I also want American made choices I can live with. I traded in my '06 Wrangler Unlimited (92% US/Canadian content) that I bought new that was having a few durability issues (3 warranty issues the first 12,000 miles, 2 in less than 4,000 miles) for a used '06 Tacoma (at least partially US made, and since it was used, my buying it didn't hurt any US jobs).

Not only has it been trouble free, the Tacoma also uses less gas.

American made isn't always the best choice (I certainly wish it was, and is why I also own a Honda and Yamaha), and I would be interested to know how much foreign content your GMC has, which shares componants with Isuzu.

Hey guys I just order my American made lift from yotatec its the 3run-frc. You guys have no idea how excited I am right now. so I will put it on within the next 3 weeks. But now its the tires I still have to decide on Oh and I still have to buy some wheel spacers so that 305 would fit don't I?

So,how much of the 4Runner is American parts? 4Runners are still mostly Japanese but that's not a bad thing but I wonder if they will start making Runners in the US. It's not about supporting america,to me it's about the best for my money and sometimes the US companies suck.

What brand of lift is it?

On my Tacoma, the tires rub the upper control arms on the front side, and on the frame behind the tires. That's with 285/75-16s, which are about 2.2" taller and .8" wider than stock. I need spacers (although I shouldn't need more than 1/2"), so you should need spacers more than I do, unless your aftermarket rims have enough backspacing to keep them from rubbing.

I'm an IDIOT sorry its by TOYTEC not yotatech. sorry its been a weird day for sure. right now on my 20's I'm running 275/45 R20 Which are for sale now i have only used them for 3 Chicago summers I take them off in the winter casue I would go now where in this weather. the offset is only 15mm so that is .6" offset i was thinking about 285's but i really hate the look of a skinny tire.

Now i know how a chick feels when shes shopping for pants. "do i like then or do i not like them"

I don't know if they make a tire to fit what you are looking for, but I will never buy any other tire than yokahama's... they rock! Sticky on pavement, grippy in mud and rock, little raod noise for an aggressive tire, and they last FOREVER!

Global economy pretty much shuts down the AMERICAN BUY idea... where do you think the oil to make those tires is coming from... COME ON!

Yokohama makes a great tire. I had a set way back in the early 90s, right after they first came to the US. They used to be fairly cheap. However, since they've made a name for themselves here in the US, the prices have gone up quite a bit. The same can be said about Nittos. I have found that I can buy an American made BFG for a competitive price, and the BFG is a great tire also. So why not buy the BFG?

A global economy doesn't insure that US jobs won't be lost. So that argument isn't very relevant. But quality, reliability, and durability are relevant arguments. I will buy American if the American product will give me what I want, with price being less of a factor (such as BFG).

But if I can't find an American product that gives me what I want, I will buy from companies from other countries (such as Toyota).

And by the way, it might surprise you how much of the oil we use comes from the US. It's not all Arabic or Venezualan oil.

They are wider than the 265s that came stock on mine.

Is that 15mm more offset to the outside than the stock wheels? That much more than stock would be more than enough to keep mine from rubbing, although I think yours would still rub.
