Mismatched front tires
Due to some apparent camber problem, I've got a front tire damn near bald on the inside. I'm planning on getting a new set, but still shopping around, and I want to put my spare on in place of the bald one. Problem is, the spare was part of an other set of tires that is slightly different size, 235 70 R15 as opposed to 225 75 R15. I'm guessing that due to the only slight difference in height (4.5mm new) and the already uneven wear and the fact that it's on the front and I'll be keeping it in 2wd, that driving around on the spare is no worse than driving on my balding front tire, which I've been doing for a while now.
Anybody see a problem with this ? I asked a tire tech today over the phone and he said "yeah well it's not a good idea on a 4wd" and I asked but what if I don't put it in 4wd? and he said "well...it shouldn't hurt any thing but it might..." which I think likely just means that he's an idiot and/or trying to get me to buy tires.
