Steve - take a look at Lee's (Firefyter-Emt) design. His is a captive design and uses a single pin. I have a set for the front and rear, but have yet to install them.

Oh yes, now I remember seeing these. Indeed my will be based on the same concept, however, I'm using 1" OD square tubing that will slide inside a larger squre tubing. My 4Runner is weighing in over 5000lbs, unloaded. :pat: If I load the 4Runner up with camping gear and take a road trip, I wouldn't feel comfortable having so much weight being placed on the 1/8" clip. I also have the Addco sway bar, which is even stiffer than the stock bar, and will place more stress on the center pin. The hing pin I'm using is 3/8" thick, this I feel comfortable with. However, mine are based on the same idea.

Nolan, I finally got the pictures!!

Check out the below pics and the links. Click on the pictures to see a larger image. These wheels are the M/T Classic Lock with a 4" backspacing and Nitto 295/75R16 tires.

This shot is looking from the front of the 4Runner towards the rear on the driver side:

From rear of vehicle, show how far the tires stick out.

And a close up shot of the M/T wheel:
