Firestone Mastercare tires deals explained...
This could be old news, but I thought I'd throw it out there. I was talking to the Manager at Firestone tonight while my car was being aligned, and I asked him if he had any idea when they'd be running a buy 3 get 1 free or buy one get one half off deal in the future.
He informed me, that they often do this at the end of the month to get their units up beause there are quotas that each store has to meet as far as tire sales are concerned. Thus, a lot of the stores run one of those deals at the end of the month as they need to drive their numbers up to meet their quota. Once met, or close to it, however, he said they'll stop doing it.
So, he said the thing to do is start calling about 10 days to the end of the month and asking Firestone's if they're running one of those specials. Call several beause they won't all be doing it. It's just a numbers game.

That explains why the first Firestone dealer I went to didn't offer me the buy 3 get one free deal. The second did and the funny thing was the second store got the tires from the first store.....go figure....LOL

I was a salesman at Firestone a couple of years ago. The quota makes or breaks the manager's rating. But don't get sucked into the buy 3 get 1 free sales. They probably mark them up! The best thing to do is haggle with them, they will go down in price if they think you will go somewhere else. When we had to make quota, I was allowed to sell at 10% above cost.
There is quite a bit of a markup on tires. I think a set of Dueler AT(Revo's weren't out yet) in a 31X10.50 15 sold for $110, the dealer cost was around $70. So they have a lot of room to get you to buy their tires.
