Changing 225/75R/15 to 265/70/R16
[SIZE="5Hello,
I know you guys get tons of these types of questions, but I have made an effort to search the forums and I have not found my answer.
I have a base model 97 V6 4WD with 15 inch steel rims with the stock 225/75R/15 tires. I want to go to the aluminum rims and 265/70R 16 tires which I have located. They are off an SR5 from 97.
I don’t see there being any clearance issues since was on the SR5 model. Correct?
Questions:
I do see a speedometer and gearing issue as my model had a 3.909 differential. If I don’t change the gears out, am I doing any kid of damage or will I just suffer performance? Are there spedo gear adaptors for the 4 runner to solve the speedometer issue?
Thanks and sorry if this is answered elsewhere.[/SIZE]

I did a swap form 225/75R15 to 265/75R16 on my 01, before the lift, and had no clearance issues. I didn't really notice any performance issues either, even with the original 3.909 gears. The 3.4 has enough torque and power.
As for the speedo I used a Dakota Digital SGI-5. It's easy to install and calibrate.
