Good thread! I'm getting my lift (Ultimate from Toytec), tires (33" Hankook Dynapro MT), and wheels (Black 16's from Wheelers Off Road) and haven't thought about this at all. I own a tan '98. Picture below of it. I think I might go with the white on the inside.

Note; That picture is a little out of date, the running boards have been off for a few weeks, and also, I just took all of the emblems/badges off of it today, I hated the gold look! They're going black!

I know for sure if i was going with black crager type wheels i would mount black walls out . Those type black wheels and white letter out, stands out too much and looks a bit redneck. I am pretty sure i am going black letter , but the white isnt as noticable on my silver 4runner and stock silver wheels.

I just put on KM2's, white out for me but I've got aluminum wheels and I like the look. I've only got about 60 on-road miles, but they are a huge improvement over the older Wild Country M/T RSV's (?) that were on the truck. On wet pavement the WC's would slip out from under me on a sharp turn, the KM2's haven't slipped at all, even with the spare 33 out of the back of the truck. I also went from 33 12.5's down to 32 11.5's.
They're a lot quieter on the road than I thought they would be.

I prefer black out, but mine came stock white out. As usually happens, I've grown to like it but I'm old school and still call "rims" wheels.

i only do white out with BFGs. TO CLEAN WHITE LETTERS/WALLS: use a brass bristle brush. most common version is a BBQ grille brush. (break off the scraper tip) a little simple green or similar and they scrub clean in seconds.

If you do white you, you have to keep them clean or it looks horrible.

I dislike white lettering

hmmm , so opinions seem half and half lol. it seems most older trucks go with the white letter and newer go with black. I think the white looks really good on the 80's runners , more of a classic look, but it also looks good on pattycakes 3rd gen. I'm thinking if i mount the white letter out i might as well get some trd off road stickers for the rear panels lol.

I've had my KM2s for about 8 months now. They are very quiet but it's my first set of M/Ts so take that with a grain of salt I guess. I was expecting much worse going from a basic all-season. As far as wear goes... I was disappointed at first but I didn't get an alignment right away. After I got the alignment the wear has been much better. It's actually the first car I've ever had to buy tires for (I'm only 22) so after spending $800 on something, any bit of wear seems ridiculous to me lol. I mounted mine black walls out. The tires that were on the truck when I bought it were mounted white letters out and I thought it looked terrible. Then again having Goodyear Tracker 2s from wal-mart isn't exactly anything worth showing off, so having a nice tire might be a little different. I'll try and remember to post some pictures but I'm at school right now.

Yeah this is the most expensive set of tires i have ever bought. Im sure any wear i see will disappoint me lol. i was going to get the treadwrights for $550 , but just wanted the brand name and the best mud tire i could get. I used to have the old bfg m/t on a fj80 and thought they were pretty quiet and rode nice , but i only had it for about 5000 miles however i saw no wear at all. I just hope i can at least get 25-30k out of these.
