i have mickey thompson classic 2 wheels 10x15 (non beadlocks) and 33x1250 mt bfgoodrich tires on a91 toyota. I was just wondering what u guys would sugest the lowest air pressure i should run when off road with out even coming close to popping the tire off the bead. do u guys think i would be safe to go as low as 20 pounds. ive aired down from 35 down to just 28 or so and have climed some perty narly trails here in redding. thanks anything will help l8r.

 

I usually offroad (on rocky/hilly terrain) with 18 PSI in my 32" without ever coming close to popping a bead - even with occasionally dragging the tires sideways because of having to winch the rear of my truck sideways to get out of tricky situations. On smooth/sandy terrain (such as sand dunes) I've heard that you can safely go down to considerably lower pressures, although, I've never done it myself.

 

I echo what GSGALLANT wrote. I routinely drop my 32's down to 15-18 #'s and have yet to pop a bead, or tear a sidewall, and we've got some pretty sharp rocks out here.

 

I've dropped my 265/75's (32's) on stock wheels (16x7) to 8 psi a few times and haven't popped a bead

 

I've been sub 10psi more times than I can count. It's when you go sub 5psi that you should start to worry.

 

I run my 35's BFG mudders at 5-10 on the dunes, and 10-15 when wheeling. Never had a problem.
