I just got my 5 spoke Toyota alloys and 265/75/16 Revos balanced at the local Toyota dealer on a Hunter DSP9100 and all vibration is gone. BTW, the wobble was only noticable when the effending tires were mounted on the front. The tires were out 1.0, 1.5, 2.5, and 3.5 ounces. The !@#$% who originally mounted these was a friggin idiot. It was some cheesy tire shop that I used to work the price of the tires. Next time I will be ordering from Tire Rack and getting them shipped to a more capable shop for mounting.

Time for a resurrection...Does the haweka adapter need to be used on 2nd gens too? I've got a vibration that I just can't get rid of.

My local Costco has the Haweka adapter. No vibration in my tires.

Digging up old posts while using the search feature.

How much are you guys paying for the road force balance?
I think I am going to need it done with that method.

Woah, Is that a normal price?
Think I can get it done for less if I look around?
I doubt many places have it, but I think it's worth a shot.

I was just looking for a price so I know what to expect. Thanks Bama.

Edit... Did not see "including" mounting.

Mine was free (with tire purchase). I only buy tires from places with a Road Force Balancer. Thank God for Jackie Cooper NW 63rd in OKC.

Maybe you paid more for the tires? They have to pay for the machine somehow.
From what I understand, those machins are not cheap. I read over $10k here.

i rolled into the shop w/ steel wheels and the MT/Rs on them and the LX wheels in the back and rolled out w/ the LX wheels wearing the MT/R's and on the runner and the steelies in the back. my bill was $90 for the swap including the balance. it might be cheaper when you acutally BUY the tires at the same time...

it was something like $17.50 per tire IIRC compared to about $7.50-$10 per tire for a normal balance.

they had the Hunter RF machine and the haweka adapter. they RF balanced them and got them placed on the wheel properly and then spun them to check to make sure they were good. that was like 20k ago. worth every penny in my opinion w/ a heavy MT/R. with revos or some other mild tire, then i'd just have a regular balance done w/ the haweka adapter.

Are those the green dot stickers that were on the wheel and rim when I bought the truck and what I see on all new cars now?

Yeah I paid about $20 more per tire, but I've had them balanced once or twice a year for 3 years now. I think I got my moneys worth already.

Good to hear.
I don't think they even did the alignment when I bought the Revos. Wheel still has to be cocked to the right and still pulls left, plus the wheel shimmies at times/speeds.
I haven't been at my other residence while the store was open, so have yet to do anything about it.

the eternal vibration series:

just a quick note, i had my front brake rotors resurfaced and wheels balanced (by someone other than discount tires) around the same time. normally i do this service months apart, however this made a huge difference in the vibration problem, it actually feels the smoothest i remember in some time.

my rotors are warped, second time resurfacing them. the brake master guy is a 4runner owner and set my brakes up like on his rig, alot tighter rear drum adjustment.
it what his experience that i should check the rears every 3-4months to avoid too much weight on the fronts.

anyways, the good wheel balance + smooth brakes = smooth performance! yay

peace

at our shop we charge $42.00 to mount and balance four tires and take your old ones. We are getting the Haweka adapter. As for the green dots that should line up with the valve stem. We've been told by frineds who are engineers at goodyears Akron R&D that thos dots or stickers are pretty much pointless. We line them up with the valves to make people happy though.

Glad you got it worked out! Yeah, when you ask the person on the phone if they do road force balancing and/or have the Haweka adapter and they don't say anything back, you hang up and call another place!

My dealer finally got one as they didn't have one last year. :pat:

I put these ceramic beads (www.innovativebalancing.com) in the tires of my Taco. No Haweka adapter, balancing machine, or even tire weights were used. With this simple easy to use product, my truck now rolls down the highway as smooth as glass. GREAT STUFF!!

I'd have to admit that I was a little skeptical when I first read about the beads. However, there where numerous people over on the TTORA Board that said they worked great. I even contacted GADGET about them and he gave a favorable opinion. I've since put them in a new set of tires I bought a few months ago and couldn't be happier.

As far as I'm concerned, this stuff makes the lug centric, hub centric, and the use of a haweka adaptor a non issue for getting a well balanced tire

Do the beads make any noise inside the tire?
