Recently I installed American racing atx rims on my tacoma. I noticed that the lug nuts only gripped maybe 5 threads of the stud.. And I wasnt too thrilled. I looked up any possible remedies on a few toyota sites, and found the price friendly solution of swapping out the wheel studs with the rear studs of an 03 awd Matrix, which are about a half inch longer. I completed the front of the truck today and everything seems to be ok.. But i cant help but wonder if anyone has heard of issues with this swap.. I reallllllly would not like a wheel to fall off and die. Any input would be great!

 

As long as the studs where tight when you pressed the hub and the lug nuts stay tight you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
