I pulled the top off the 4Runner the other week and I was real stoked to take it to the lake this weekend and do some fishing. Thought process was all good until my wife said "how are we gonna keep the coolers safe at night?"

We live in bonafide bear country, western Colorado so bears are a legit concern. Ordinarily we'd just load and lock the truck and it would be fine... but with the top off we go nothing. Even if it were a truck we could throw coolers in the cab at night but that's not going to help anything.

So, anyone dealt with this? I would LOVE to just drop $350 and get a nice Yeti Cooler but that's not happening today. Has anyone built maybe a wood box in the "bed" that can lock and store things? I was even considering some kind of bar running from bedrail to bedrail that you could slide the cooler under so the lids couldn't be lifted... I don't know if it could really stop a curious bear or not.
