I am an Arizona Yoter and love camping, I've been going to the Bear Canyon Lake area with my rigs every year for the last 8 years. Recently though the area has gotten over run by family's with children aaaah!! So now I'm looking for some good camping sites that you might frequent or have thought about going! Any input is appreciated!

I love it up there! but I agree, Bear Canyon is pretty busy anymore. Have you tried Knoll Lake? its also off Rim Road. I also do a lot of camping up by Happy Jack and Clints Wells which is just a bit further up the 87 past the turn off for Rim Road - that area is really nice and peaceful, we take kayaks with us and go out on Blue Ridge Resivoir. We also do some camping in Young, about 30 or so miles east of Payson down the 260 - I think the turn off we take to the right is near the turn off to the left for Rim Road.

Then there is always the Crown King area - kinda busy in town, but there are a lot of great disbursed areas to camp and be secluded. I did some camping a few weeks ago out near Safford at Turkey Creek - very very beautiful and we had an amazing campsite.
