Bought a new Canon DSLR
It should be here in a week or so. I purchased the Canon 40D and a Canon 17-55 F2.8 IS Lens.
I have been dissatisfied with 35mm film for quite some time. Cant get local folks to process it and work with me on it. They just want to run it through the machines and let it go. Also, my consumer grade canon 28-105 F3.5-4.5 lens just does not perform like I wanted. I had wanted to upgrade to the L series but just had not tried yet. I was too illed with trying to get good processing at affordable prices that I lost the creative interest. I have been inspired by several here that are pro photographers and have been wanting to get back into this hobby but had not the cash.
So the one lens will work as my all around and portrait lens. Later, Id like to get an 85 f1.8. Cant afford a 1.2. for portraits. Then a 70-300 2.8 for when the kids get into sports. Id also love an ultra wide, like a 10-22 or just an ultra wide prime for fun and landscapes.
Anyway, keep up the inspiration.

I think I just read a review of that lens, sounds sweet - true wide angle to pretty good telephoto range and F2.8 is BRIGHT.
Once you go digital, you will wonder why you messed around with film so long. It's amaxing how much better pictures you can take when you're not worried about running out of film!
