Easy resolve for charging sys 79-83 4x4

FYI - I had been fighting the charging sys on my 83 yota 4x4 - here is my solution - I installed a Delco 12S alternator with built in regulator - it is cheap (I think $65 bucks new), it's rated at 65 amps, it's availible everywhere you could possibly travel, and easy to wire up.

Follow these three esay steps and you'll love it!

A) The main post connects directly to the battery. easy enough.

B) The #1 terminal (field) connects to the Green wire on the charging relay (the charging relay on my 1983 is located just above the passenger side kick panel... I removed the relay and installed a spade lug to connect to Green wire. By doing this you can eliminate the charge relay and it still keeps the warning lights working properly. Win Win.

C) The #2 terminal (sensing) can be connected a couple different ways... I'll explain... you can simply jumper this to the (+) battery post. This is typical. Or you can connect it to the Hot Wire (White on my 1983) at the fuse panel. Either way is electrically correct and works. The reason I located mine at the fuse panel is because where ever you locate this wire is where it measures and maintains the output voltage. By locating it at the fuse panel, it maintains 13.8 volts there... so whenever I put a load on the electrical system, such as Lights or High Beams, the alternator ramps up to keep the volatge at 13.8 at this point... it makes everything in the truck run noticeably (-5 for spelling?! Yay!) better and brighter... It really woke my old truck up.

If you need any help with this please feel free to contact me... I'll do what ever I can to help you through this...

Cheers!
