no such thing as an 86 tacoma. you have an 86 pick up.

and your guess is as good as ours on the whole 350 swap. not many have done it. maybe a few will chime in

You should just keep it 22re, or 3.4. I guess I don't know your skill level and knowledge but a kid in my town put in a 350 and he was in way over his head, finally got it done and said he misses his Toyota engine, but like I said, that's him and you probably have way more knowledge than him but still. . .

To actually answer your question - it really depends on what you start with and what you want so theres no set answer. If you just wanna swap a cheap junk yard engine over your costs will be fairly low. You could also buy a wrecked vehicle, swap, then sell parts off the vehicle and recoup a lot of $. Most expensive would be a crate engine and/or paying someone to do it for you.

I'd guess most engine swaps end up in the $2-5k range once done - this is for a 3.4l, but a 350 should be similar pricing. But remember if you put 350 power under the hood you're gonna be spending lots more money on other drivetrain related parts just to handle that power and not self destruct. Check out the domestic swaps forum and read up.

As for your truck - you have a "Toyota PICKUP". You can make your grill say whatever you want, but your DMV title will say otherwise. Toyota pickup is anything pre-1995, because in 1995.5 they came out with the "Tacoma".

i was under the impression for this man i knew that up till 86 they were taco then 87 changed to tacoma but any ways i talked with a fella yesterday and he said he has a ranger and put a toyota solid front axle in and it holds his 383 stroker with over 600 hp mine has a independent front suspension so im now tryin to find out if they are interchangeable or if the independent will hold it so that takes out the beefing on the that and i have a turbo 350 and transfer case for it already so i just need the motor and enough beer to persuade my buddys to help me lol
