Speedo quit working. Help identifying wires

2003 5VZ in a 93 4runner. ECU and harness from a 2wd Tacoma. Friend and I did this swap in 2004 with friend doing the wiring. Friend and I have gone our separate ways so can't really ask him.

Speedo quit working and it looked like the harness down to the transmission and O2's had gotten too close to the headers after a shop did some work. I figured the wires had burned so I unhooked the harness and pulled it into the engine bay to inspect. THe plastic around the harness definitely melted but the wiring looked untouched.

As I was inspecting the harness that I pulled up I came across these two wires that were connected to something before but after crawling around under the truck for a while I cannot tell where they went. One is a black with brown stripe, and the other is a red with black stripe. Their takeoff is around where the first O2's do. Can anyone identify what these wires are for? They appear to be factory as they run into the engine harness.

There is the VSS connector coming from the transfer case into the engine harness as well so this must not have been an ABS Tacoma.

I am mostly looking for help identifying what these two unconnected wires are for, but I would also appreciate any tips on the speedo not working. I am attaching pic of first the VSS plug, then the two unconnected wires and also the wiring going into the engine harness. The VSS and these two unidentified wires are in the bundle.

Thanks in advance for any help!

It would be great if those 2 wires are for the reverse lights as I have those hooked up elsewhere already. Both O2's have wiring, the VSS has all 3 wires, and I don't have 4wd light in this harness because it came from a 2wd Tacoma.

Just typing out loud here.....

Under daylight conditions, actually appears to be Black-red and Red-black wires. And the black-red is hot with ignition on. From a wiring diagram I found this seems likely that it is the reverse switch, but would love confirmation.

Had a spare speed sensor so I hooked it up and spun it with a drill. Speedometer doesn't move. Suppose it could be the sensor but what are the odds that two are bad?
