someone help this newb!
ive looked throught this place and cant seem to find an easy answer i got a 92 sas'd 5 speed with a 3.0 that suuuucks. it needs a new better engine. i have two options, either pull the 4.3 tbi out of my 86 or pick up a rolled 4runner 3.4 manual for $500. im leanin towards the 3.4 but how hard is it gonna be if i just switch everything. will it swap easy or is there still alot of cut and splice. straighten me out or if you can point me in the right direction would be cool. ive done the 4.3 but im pretty new to toyotas.

I am getting ready to do the same thing and as far as I know it's very cut and dry upto the wiring harness. You do need parts from the 3.0 for the 3.4 namely
oil pan, splash guard, pick up,sender, motor mounts, dip stick and tube and if it's a 2000 or newer 3.4 you need to redrill the oil dip stick tube hole to the rear and fill the front original hole.
throw out bearing,as for clutch, pressure plate and flywheel as far as I have read them 3 are pretty much interchangeable with most choosing to keep the 3.4 set up. Then the major pain in the
after all that is the wiring, and if you have a 5 speed you need the 5 speed ecu auto you need the auto ecu or figure out how to trick the auto ecu into believing it's in neutral all the time.
