Power steering help!

Hey guys I'm currently mid-swap on my 3.4
I noticed that my power steering pump runs from the pump to the abs distribution block and then to my steering gearbox.

Basically Id like to delete that abs/junction box(I already unbolted an removed it) my main question is where do I get a new custom line or line long enough to stretch from my p/s pump directly to the steering box?

You're going to be opening a can of worms. Just a heads up, that you'll also need to replace all (I think) of the hard lines for the rear brakes (master cylinder to the LSPV) in addition to the power steering lines.

I know Mt_Goat removed his ABS and put a water/meth pump in its place during his swap, I'd suggest digging through his stickied thread to see what he did. Cadman used the stock 3.4 PS hose, cut the hard line and brazed/welded it to the stock non-abs hard line. Elvota just ran a custom high pressure rubber line from the pump to the steering box.

It's been done before and should be fairly well documented.

Luckily when I bought the truck the rear lines had already been re-routed from the master to a moroso reducing valve and then to my rear drums.
My main concern at this point is where to get a ps line while keeping a pressure sensor somewhere in the line to keep my ecu happy.

That's good news on the rear lines.

As for the pressure sensor, the only thing I know of is the idle up valve on the 3.4 power steering but that has 2 vacuum lines on it, I'm not sure of any electrical connection between the power steering system and the ECU.

Do you have a picture of the pressure sensor you're talking about?

E10-9 is the pin it connects to on the 5vzfe ecu.
However i was brainstorming with my buddy Don from RPM sytems in poughkeepsie
and he came up with a brilliant idea, his idea was since the the high pressure line comes off my pump in a banjo bolt and then runs into a 3/8 hardline to the flex section and then comes back out of the flex section in another 3/8 hardline, that i should cut the 3/8 hardline right after the flex section and flare it.

Now since the other side goes into the power steering gear box in a 3/8 hard line with a 16mm flare fitting there is nothing stopping me from running a new 3/8 line with a 16mm flare fitting from my steering box to the pass frame rail and the running my line from my power steering pump down and cutting it right after the flex section. Then slide a 16mm flare nut on the leftover stub and flare it. Finally i"ll have to find a 16mm female to female adapter and connect the two lines, which even if i cant find that union its a standard 3/8 line so i can run any stardard fittings to make a union there since its not a critical to have it metric in that section.

Thats the theory of how to get it done, i picked up a roll of 3/8 line and 4 16mm fittings this afternoon, I'll be chipping away on it friday all day so ill be postings pics if all goes as planned

Sounds like you've got things figured out. Is that a theoretical, CAD drawing or an actual picture of your new line?

And just for my own clarity, would you mind explaining your E10-9 connection? For my 96/97 4Runner that was either the STA (starter trigger wire) or the SPD wire (my notes are a bit fuzzy here), neither of which have anything to do with the power steering system, but Toyota did move all the pin functions fairly regularly through the years and applications.

That's an actual picture of the power steering line from a 99 4runner
Ill have to wait until I get home but I remember it ran directly from the sensor on the power steering line to the ecu it's definitely a dedicated power steering sensor pin on your ecu, only bc it runs nowhere else on the diagram.

It worked out perfect
I cut the line on the 99 just after the flex and flared it into a hard line straight to my steering box. Works perfect an I bought a 20$ cooler lot and hooked it up to the return line

Good to hear you got it to work.

It's strange all the little differences from year to year, the 96 and 97 4Runner electronics I did my swap with didn't have any sort of power steering sensor, but yours clearly does; I apologize for any confusion I may have caused.
