Fueling issue, No start ??? HALP!!!!

Bout got my buddy's swap done. We decided to see if it would fire last night. It would crank all day, but no spark. I checked over my wiring book and found out I forgot to wire in +B on the puter.

I fixed that issue and tried again. This time we got one little fart right away, then nothing. Cranked a couple more times but still no fire. It does have spark. It is getting fuel, WAYYY too much fuel. There is a nice pool of it on the shop floor where it blew out the exhaust.

The truck is a 90 4wd mt, the engine is from a 98 4rnr 4wd auto. We used the ECM from a 98 Taco 4wd mt. The downpipe isnt connected and the O2 sensors are not plugged in.

The only thing I can figure is the injectors are sticking open, but I have no idea where to start. Please help get this thing out of my shop.

You could have something going on with the COR or wiring to the COR, just a thought.

The COR seems fine to me. Its getting fuel so that means its working the way it should? I ran G-Y through C1 to FC on the ECM.

I looked through my wiring yet again and discovered I didnt run anything to +B on the ecm. I fixed that issue and it seems to have stopped dumping fuel, but there is still no fire. Just a little sputter once in a while. What gives?

Do you have +B also going to the body harness? It should go to the body harness as well as the ECM

I have +B from the dash ran to +B on the ECM and the rest of the engine harness.

Ignitor body is grounded? The plugs for the ignitor is known to have a tendency to have wires come loose. Check this.

Same with the plug on the maf.

If you are confident the wiring is correct, you need to start checking the other components.

Good grounds from battery to motor? Motor the firewall? Also to the body?

Good to go on the grounds. I double checked and the wiring is correct. I filled the cooling system which seemed to help since it blubs and smokes alot more now.

I can tell now that it makes no difference whether or not the MAF is plugged in. It is one of the parts we pulled at the junkyard and didnt really pay attention to what it came off of. From searching here I found that the pin lcations changed at some point, so I guess thats where Im looking next.

If the MAF is unplugged it will do what you describe. Could be bad, or miswired.

So I had a 99 harness and I received a 98 MAF. The plug wiring was different. Once I switched the wires around, it worked like a champ. Did you make sure the correct wires were in the correct pins?

The wiring on the MAF is right, and it tested good, as well as a few other sensors. I still cant find a problem. All we get is blubs and lots of noise but it wont run.

For some dumb reason there is no power to the STA circuit now, so I have to fix that first.

Well the starter relay quit, not sure why but it works again. Might have just been the farmer clamp battery termials. While checking out the STA circuit I discovered that I ran the STA wire to 16 on the C2 plug when it should have ran to 16 on C1. I fixed that. Now it kinda starts and runs bad for about a second. It wont stay running.

Im still looking into the MAF. I checked the resistance per the FSM, tried two different wiring configs, unplugged it, but nothing made a difference.

Do you have your sparkplug wires correct?

Tried a different MAF, no difference.

Could it be the Igniter? I looked up the part no and it seems this one came off of aCamry/Avalon <1997. I cant confirm whether or not its compatible with the 5vz. The connector wiring is correct and it plugs in, but it looks a lot different from the pics I can find of the Tacoma igniter.
89621-41010 is the one I have.
???

Yes, the sparkplug wires are correct.

Update: Got it running. Turns out all of the exhaust valves on the driver's side were stuck open. Found another engine, swapped it in, fired right up, ran awesome. The guy took it on a run two days later from WA to UT without a problem. It has been running well for the last ~8 months, aside from the tach not working (havent got to that yet).
