CatConv. ?

So, just getting into my swap-89 1st gen 5spd w/ an 00 (i think) motor, but using all 97 m/t wiring, ecm & accesories. I know my 89 Cat won't jive with the OBII electronics, but I live in Caliinfornia & you can't just go to an auto parts store and buy an OBII Cat anymore. Will I be ok if I get a now 49 state legal aftermarket Cat since they're WAY cheaper. Smog is not an issue as I live in a no smog county, just want to keep the computer happy.

you can buy a cat but it has to be California complaint.

check with your local muffler shop, they will know all the rules and what not.

Good luck on ordering a 49 state cat to california. you'll have to figure out a loophole on that one. Also where in California do you live that smog isn't needed? You must live out in the boons. I've been do some research at the Magnaflow 46005 seems to be the winner for california certified CARB cats.

i'm looking to get my exhaust done.

I do live in the cuts, one of if I remember right only a few counties left that don't do smog checks. That cat isn't too badly priced so I'll probably just order it up as a 49 state one is still about $100
