AC Wiring

Okay, I am done with my swap, got everything running good and all that. Just need to get my hood to close now, and then get started with the A/C system.

I found a thread where the guys were asking one person to see if they can draw up a diagram. No diagram yet, so here's my question.

What do you guys do with the VSV, VSP, or whatever acronyms they use? I left all my 3.0 A/C system in, with the exception of the A/C compressor. If I use the 3.0 A/C amplifier (don't have access to a 3.4 amplifier, so that's out of the question), what would I do with the connections to the VSV and all that other gobbly-gook? Does the 3.4 have it? Do I need to hunt for that stuff? Anybody know the answer?

You gotta have the 3.4 amplifier I think.

From what I read, some people have used the 3.0 amp and it works. I'd like to stay with that.

no 3.0 amp works fine. But what vsv's are you talking about? the 3.4 system doesn't use any that I know of. just read this thread. it has been a year now, and its working just fine... there was a vsv for the 3.0 idle I think? but it's not going to be used now.

Maybe I'm confusing it with the Fuel Pressure VSV in the 3VZ overall diagram. But yeah, you're right. The VSV won't be used once the 3.4 is in.

I'm confused by this statement. Are you saying, "No, the 3.0 amp works fine" or "No, the 3.0 amp will not work"?

Anyway, if it's the former, do you know what I would do? From what I am reading, I just leave everything as-is, but just use the A/C output from the ECU and invert it to the 3.0 amp. "As-is" means the A/C clutch lead would obviously be connected to the compressor clutch. Am I understanding it correctly?

This is the only thing I have left to do, so any help on this would be great.

hehe sorry. I meant the latter. The 3.0 amp works just fine.

And it's actually the other way around I think the a/c output goes to the ecu. So the ecu knows the A/C is on? and yes just wire the clutch in to the same wire on the body harness as it was with the 3.0. I.E. I pinned the A/C clutch wire from my 97 engine harness to the IH2 pin 11 on the body harness. That will go directly to the A/C amp. It will engage the clutch when you push the a/c switch.

You mean the former -- stuff said first is "former", said later is "latter". Hehe, ok, enough grammar for today.

You're right. The AC does output to the ECU. Makes sense.

I'll see if I can follow your logic with the repin. Mine is a 92 body with a 2001 3.4 in it. Thanks again.
