93 4runner 3.4 Swap-Let the journy begin!!

Ok well it seems as though I have Everything Buttoned up just waiting till tomorow for my friend to come over and bust out the wiring!
But I have a couple questions: I have the old charcoal canister on my 4runner but none of the new EVAP. Do I have to have the EVAP hooked up? I dont live in a smog controlled area so none of that matters to me.
Also I was thinking of eliminating the Cat converter and just running a straight pipe back to a magnaflow muffler then out. Someone tried to tell me I will lose all my back pressure to the motor if I do this and I'll lose alot of my low end torque. Is this true or what??

I'm using the 98 t100 trann so I had to Customize my old crossmember with the new one. So What I did was cut off the part that bolts into the tranny from the 3.4 crossmember and welded it on top of the old crossmember this is what it looks like....

I also notice when I went to put the throttle cable on it wouldnt stretch to the holder. So When I would attach it it was engaging the throttle some. So I took my saws all and cut the braket down the middle and bent it down enough so my cable wasn't engaging the throttle and tightened it down.
Heres what the Engine Bay looks like so far ALMOST THERE!
Heres a Before and after from the 2in body lift:

Pretty easy. Its located on the passenger frame rail towards the tail/middle of the transmission. Its held in its bracket by a 10mm bolt and 12mm bolt. You need a 14mm wrench to loosen the fuel lines from the filter and a 17mm or 18mm (i used a 3/4 in.) to hold the filter in place while you loosen the lines. Took me about 45 mins give or take.

right on thanks. I'll have to give that a try. Been driving around the past couple days been really awsome. I really enjoy the power difference. I found a vacuum line that wasnt plugged in but it was my idle adjustment line so when i plug it in it brings my idle down but then it runs choppy. When I unplug it and plug the vacuum line it idles at 1.5k but seems to run smooth. So freaking weird. I went over to a friends house to confirm thats where the line goes and I was correct. So I guess I need to plug it in and figure out what else is wrong. I dont have my 2nd O2 sensor plugged in yet cause I removed all the guts from the Cat. I wonder If I put the second 02 bypass I made in if it would help clear it up...
only time and tinkering will tell.....

well I plugged in my 2nd 02 and I hooked up the vacuum line to the Idle actuator. It's still kinda running funny. I read on here that some people cleaned there MAF sensor How do i go about that? Also I have a K/N air filter so I took it off and I started to cover the air intake hole and the idle went up and seemed to run a little better..... WTF? Is this maybe a lack of gas problem? I mean less air makes it run better. Or maybe I still haven't found another vacuum leak. Any suggestions?

well no vacuum leaks found used a propane tank with a tube. when I take off the MAF plug in it idles great nice and smooth. I tried cleaning the sensor in it and it didn't help. When it gets plugged back in starts looping again. I tried to trace the wires to the ecu and everything seems to match up with it. HMMMMMMM....

Mine ran choppy when I didn't have +B hooked up to the ECM. Did you wire in your OBD port, and do you have any codes? Also I'm not running, and not going to run EVAP with no ill effects.
edit: Oh, and if you haven't figured it out yet, your body lift will make it much easier to change that fuel filter.

Man I don't know how I missed so much of your thread, but we are building twin trucks! I'd love to score a set of Tacoma steelies like you're running. It appears your auto trans drop to the correct side already- how nice is that. I have to buy a damn $400 adapter still. Are you keeping the ADD?

My guess is your vacum routing is messed up. The t100 body harness has the wiring for the evap. To get it right you will have to splice in those wires at the ecu. Also the style of MAF that you have is difficult to clean as its all enclosed and its very expensive to replace. Get the OBD2 port wired up and check your codes.

Hey -drew The first wire I checked was +B cause of your thread lol When I took my truck to my uncles shop to look at codes it wasn't throwing any. I'm kinda weary about that cause I Bashed out all the guts out of my catalic converter and I have my 2nd O2 sensor hooked up for now. So I figured I would be at least throwing the 0420 code!
I've noticed our builds are very similar lol. I definantly got lucky with the transfer case and everything. Ended up saving me some bucks. Some times the abbreviations confuse me but if your talking about the automatic hub lockers I'm still using that system.
Most the vacuums are plugged off now cause I am not using any EVAP system. As for the MAF, I've heard how much those can be

Well I think i found the problem I think I forgot to replace the intake gaskets when I did my valve cover gaskets. I found a sort of loose bolt on the front side So looks like I might need to take that back apart and replace the gaskets. when I tightened up the bolt it actually seemed to idle a little bit smoother. Im a dum dum

BTW I have left over parts from my 98 T100 Ex cab. If you need anything off of it send me a PM and Well see if I have it. I have the 98 EVAP system left on it Air Box etc. Like I said send me a PM.
