3.4 In Second Gen Alternator Clearance ?
I have a 3.4 I'm about to put in my 94. I'm trying to know all the ins and outs before a touching the 94 to minimize down time. One thing I keep seeing in swap threads is the alternator clearance. It seems like everybody has an issue with the alternator hitting the steering box but nobody shows it or has a definitive solution to it. Does anybody have a picture of how close it really sits so I can get a good idea. My 3.4 is missing the upper alternator bracket and I can't seem to source one that's the same. I'm looking at just making one. If I could know where it sits from the factory I could possibly build a bracket that fits better. Also, has anybody managed to do this with a gm alternator. I have the 3.4 alternator but its bearings don't feel all that good. I have a cs144 I'd prefer to use but if there's just no way to make it fit I'll settle for a cs130 as its close to the 3.4 dimensions.

and
These are in my 93 pickup... not sure how similar it is to your runner, but should be close
I took the plastic cover off of the steering shaft to free up some room. I have about an inch of clearance (Been a while since I last measured).
Also, since I'm using Chilkat mounts, my motor probably sits up about 1/2" higher than 3.0-to-3.4 swaps.

Thanks Irab doesn't look quite as close as people make it out to be but it still looks like I'm not gunna be able to run my cs144. We'll see I guess. I ended finding a new alternator bracket on ebay for like $30 so I went ahead and bought it.
Metty, did you ever get around to getting those pics?
