22re to 3.4 swap minus smog stuff

So i just put a really good size hole in the block of my 22re this weekend, very sad moment. But i am over it now and i would like to go bigger and better. I have been looking through all these motor swap forums and i think im sure im gonna go with the 3.4. I just really need some help, a lot of swaps on here that ive seen are all done smog legal or kept a lot of sensors and things. I just want to put my foot down and go, sensors smog none of that matters to me. If there is links of guys already doing this please post them. I would like to find out what needs to be done to the motor and what fuel delivery program/computer would i have to run.
heres a pic off my truck still in working condition

here she is bleeding on the trailer

The sensors are essential to making any fuel injection system work properly. Without them, the computer does not know what the motor is doing and therefore, cannot adjust anything to make its performance optimal.

You CANNOT run ANY fuel injection system without the sensors/monitors. Doing so may seem to be making things simpler, but really you are making things much worse by trying to skip them.

i understand sensors are important, i was just thinking more along the lines of a aftermarket computer, is there such thing or do i have to run a stock ecu. If i have to run the stock ecu then of corse i would run all the sensors and do all the wiring correct.

aftermarket ecu or not. If you want fuel injection, you will need the sensors. My 2 cents. Get the motor, complete. the smog crap you don't need. even though I dont think it will hurt you that much. I figure you wouldn't care about codes being thrown, but this is an obd-2 motor, so you can just throw a diag tool on it after every run or something to make sure there isn't something else worse happening other than just the evap crap.

nice dude congrats! And good luck with the swap. This forum is the best around. You won't find any better support on this elsewhere.

Yea thanks. And yes this forum is full of good information. I've been around on some other ones, and this one is the best so far with info on the mission im about start.
This is prolly a dum question but im gonna ask the motor that im picking up today is out of a 98 tacoma it has a manual 5 trans. Can I just buy that and put it in my pick up as ez as a 3.0 trans? Or is the 3.0 trans better I've noticed a lot of people run the 3.0 trans

I would say since they are both 2wd then no problems. but I would just swap motors, and keep that other tranny as a spare. They are both r150f's so not like they are different in any way shape or form. If the taco was 4wd, then there will be a difference in the output stuff.

dang so sad the motor i was suppose to get was coming out of a truck where a kid hit a tree the guy i was dealing with said there was no damage to the motor. he calls me the night before im suppose to go pull it out and tells me he started taking out the core support so it will be ready for me and notices a bunch of cracks by the water pump and other aluminum pieces, and that the motor will not turn. he also mentioned he would not lower the price. so an other words no motor back on the search fml
