Rough 22RE...

My 22re runs very rough and has almost no power right when i start it up and for about the first 5 minutes of driving it. After it gets slightly warm, it smoothes out and runs great. Any ideas???

Thanks -Jeff

have you looked into giving it a tuneup and making sure its timed correctly and running the right rpm? sounds a lot like those could be contributing however your problems sounds a lot like a faulty cold start injector

A cold start injector is only active when starting the engine. A friend and I went through the wiring diagram on his '92 4Runner, and the cold start injector was wired through a thermal switch activated by the starter wire from the ignition.

yes, and the vehicle stays in cold start mode until it senses it is warm and then it goes back into regular mode

Also a leaky cold start will cause rough running i.e signal calls for cold start to shut off, but the injector is leaking (not closing fully). The truck will run rough because of a rich condition until the engine warms enough to burn the extra fuel.

Clck Me for the procedure from the FSM. It is in pdf format so you need Adobe to view it. The cold start injector is located on the intake plenum about 1/2 way back on the drivers side. You should be able to find it from the pic in the procedure.
