Ok, here's the scenario.One of my coworkers noticed that my left rear tail light does not work when the lights are on. The turn signals, back up lights and brake lights do work.

So, do I have to replace the bulb or is it something like a fuse? Also, if it is a bulb, where should I get a replacement? Are auto parts stores the same quality as dealer issued bulbs?

The taillight bulb is a dual filament. Tail "running light" is the same bulb as the "brake light". Just replace the bulb. If the fuse went, you'd have more not working. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but for something like this, a bulb is a bulb.

 

I personally feel the quality of the factory installed bulbs have gone down hill in the last few years. Im sure its all part of a gross bid some company won that supplies the factory with the bulbs. Toyota will see the increase in warranty claims it generated when time comes to renegotiate the bulb vendor contract, and most likely correct the issue in the years to come.
