Head Bolt Retorque

I just finished putting a new head gasket in my 89 toyota with a 22re and its running good. I used new head bolts and wondering if they have to be retorqued. I thought i heard somewhere about retorque them after 1000 miles. But i don't know if it needs to be done since I bought new bolts and didn't reuse the old ones.

Any input would be appreciated
thanks

yes they should be retorqued in 1000 miles... bolts deflect once heated up and can loosen... i recently did my HG and when i went to retorque them a month later, they were all still tight....

depends on the gasket. most you shouldn't retorque.
