Hard Steering Woes

So lately, my steering has become very hard, as if the ps is not working at all. I knew I had a leak in the ps pump, so I rebuilt it with new o-rings and the what not. Still hard steering. I rebuilt the idler arm and had an alignment. Still hard steering. Also, when driving at freeway speed, the wheels feel like they want to wander and when hitting small bumps or newly patched holes in the road, the wheels wobble a little out of control as if you hit a rut and got stuck going left or right.

So what could this be due to. The only things I could think of would be:
1.steering box (not sure what the fault would be here)
2.OME steering stabilizer
3.bent tie rods? (not sure here either)

Any and all help appreciated. Steering is very important to me, and I don't wanna be up on a trail with hard steering and have it all of a sudden go out completely and find myself rolling down the mountain-side at a 40 degree pitch into whatever 4x4 oblivion lay waiting at the bottom.

The first thing that comes to mind is your balljoints may be worn or perhaps some bushings are worn.
