Do my valves need to be adjusted?

I have a 99 4runner with the 2.7L and it just doesn't seem to sound as good as it used to. It only has 60K on it, but the noises I'm hearing are (1) a fluttery sound when I step on the gas from a full stop. Kind of hard to explain. The 2nd sound is when I step on the gas after the fluttering noise stops and she gets moving, it sounds like a little ticking noise...my first thought was maybe one of the plugs isn't firing. Would that cause a noise like that?

Hopefully someone will know what I'm trying to explain...it's kinda hard to describe the noises...the truck runs fine aside from the noise...

Thanks in advance for any help. Also, has anyone done the deckplate mod on a 99 4runner?

60K is a good time to get your valve clearances checked. Also I know the 3.0slow it's recommened to change the timing belt at 60K not sure bout yours.
