Question clutch question

How many miles can I expect to get from my clutch? I've got 150,000 miles. What are some of the warning signs that it is gonna go?

My original one went 178,000 miles and was not slipping. I had it replaced because the tranny was coming out to fix the shifter bushing. I'm very careful to not slip it anymore than absolutly necessary. I practacly don't need synchros to shift while in motion. I match the revs perfectly before releasing the clutch.

Depending on previous owners and your own driving style, it may be close to toast. It will warn you by slipping when it didn't used to. When that starts its about 5000 miles overdue for replacement.

Another indication is that your clutch will not start making you move till it get's right to the top. Your clutch is hydraulic and adjusts its self but eventually it runs out of play. Once it get's right to the top before you start moving it's going to start slipping pretty soon after that.

I have 150000 on mine and it is extremely soft I remember the good ol days when I could catch second on dry pavement but not no more. Mine started going after off roading and pulling out a heavy Z71 that would not crank. My clutch is right at the top but does not slip in the summer. However, this is weird it slips in the winter when I really get on it. I geuss it is just one of those getting to personal with your ride. I keep telling myself to get one but then summer comes around and it's fine again

Just had mine replaced on my 22re 4wd today and it was at 180,000 miles. It actually still had alot of surface area left. It was slipping so I took it in to have replaced. A couple of hours later the mechanic called and told me that an oil leak off of the valve cover gasket was causing oil to get on the clutch plate and make it slip. Thought it kinda cool though that the original clutch had lasted that long.

If you shift hard during "spirited" driving and the revs rise then fall back to normal - that's a good indication the clutch is toast.

The pedal feel can get extrememly hard, and clutch chatter can be very prominant when its about to go too.
