cluch problems

cluch problems

last night i was stoped at a stop sign with the cluch in and when i threw it into 1st gear and let the cluch go it stayed pushed down. i reached down with me hand and pulled it up and started going. after that when i was backing out of a drive way i had it in reverse and the same thing happend but this time i had the cluch all the way in and when i went to put it in 1st i couldnt get it out of reverse. does anyone know what it might be ?

Sounds like the seals in either the master or slave cylinders are leaking. Check both for fluid leaks, but they can still be shot and not leaking.

would it be hard to replace? and if i took it in to get it replaced would you happen to know how much it would run me? thanks jarrod

i think the slave is around 35 bucks, and hte master is around 50 where i live, not positive though,

not hard to do either,

get a 10 mm flare nut wrench and cut it in half then remove the line from the connection under the hood on the right side. clamp off the rubber line first then proceed with the line soak the flange and bolts down with PB Blaster or if you can get it krell oil let it sit and cook for a while trust me you don't want to snap one of these suckers or you will learn the true meaning of pain and suffering. If you don,t think the bolts want to move very carefully heat the area up a little and tap on the cylinder with a small ball pean hammer to break the electrollises.
