Belts Squeaking?

Whenever I wash the truck (regular wash and/or engine wash) or after the truck sitting under rain for sometimes, when you first start it up, the belts start squeaking for a few seconds then it's all normal again.

What's wrong with it? How to make it "shut-up"?

Thanks, guys.

I have the exact same thing happening. I was planning on replacing the belts during the summer. I only have 38k on the truck and had this happen before but with far more miles on my other truck.

dont get them wet... you must realize that the belts are rubber and rubber has oil in it... if its wet, they slip. just as tires spin when it rains.....

they probably need to be replaced.

what do you mean when you say 'engine wash'??

to silence them for now, you might want to try a can of belt dressing.

You can try belt dressing, but I always had better luck with tightening them a touch when they squealed.

It sounds like your belts are loose. If the belts still look good, tighten them up a little. Not too much otherwise you'll increase bearing wear in your alternator, power steering pump etc... If you've got more than the manufacturer's recommended miles on your belts, you're probably better off just replacing them.
