I had this head (above) it cracked, cant use it. I was given the head below. will it work with the flat top pistons? I thought I read somewhere that if I have 2mm taken off it will. Sorry if this is in the wrong place or already been asked but I couldn't find a simple answer. Every body was getting all technical. also I read something about the timing being off if I have it decked.

What year is the engine/block?
What is the "new" head from/year?
Simple answer is that pre 85 and post 85 engines have significant issues with interchange.
