Possible '92 3.0 to Chev 350 swap
We have a stock '92 4Runner IFS with a factory 3.0 and auto trans. Unfortuneately, the 3.0 failed a head gasket at 170k and hydrolocked the motor. We've finally gotten our rig home from the dealer after telling them "no" to the $6k they wanted to replace the 3.0 liter. I'm now juggling whether or not to find a running 3.0 to swap in , have the stock motor rebuilt, or- eliminate the potential of another problematic 3.0 and swap in a Chevy 350. I've contacted Downey and Advance on the adapter needs for the 350, but, as we would like to keep it as an "auto" tranny, I am mainly concerned on what mods might be required to our rig to adapt in a Chevy auto trans as well (neither Advance or Downey has a Toyo auto trans to GM block adapter). Can anyone offer advice or point me in a decision making direction? We'd like to get our Runner back on the road before winter hits. Thanks!!

depending on your location you if you want it on the road asap you are probably better off getting another 3.0. if you define asap as to time frame then you probably could consider other options
