engine swap

I plan on doing a 4.3L swap in my 81 toyota pickup. I have done the research and have found all the parts. I want to use my stock transmission and know that the ones with removeble bellhousing were made in certian years and an 81 was not one of those unless it was a 4 speed. . However mine is a 5 speed and I believe my trans is not the original one. Is the model number stamped on it somewhere.

No, no stamps.

Here's the best site for tranny ID

Looks like you probably have a L50 5 speed, with the non-removeable bellhousing. Stock for 1981-1982.

But, you REALLY ought to upgrade to a v6 R150 trans, much stronger.
