89 from 2002 3.4 Swap Match?
My son has an 89 Truck with the 3.0 and wants to swap to the 3.4. We have found a donor 2002 4 Runner with the 3.4. Is this a match for the swap? The 3.4 does not start due to electrical wiring damage from the crash, but ran up to the time of experiencing sudden catastrophic velocity reduction. They are only asking $350 for the motor.
I searched the site but could not find how to match donors. We are new to this and any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

First off, you're going to want to bookmark and read as much as you can from the 3.4 swap forum: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f160/
Second, you will 100% want to buy the entire wrecked 4Runner, not just the motor. This isn't a complete list, but all the engine electronics are completely different than those of the 3.0, the 3.4 has a much different evap setup than the 3.0 (if you're in CA and plan to SMOG it, this is a must), and there are tons of small odd and ends you will want or need from the 4Runner to make the swap easier.
The other thing to know about an 02 4Runner is that it's a drive-by-wire system, meaning there's no throttle cable from the pedal to the throttle body, instead its driven by a sensor on the pedal, a servo/motor type thing on the throttle body and connected by wires.
I would take a look at superchiem's RV swap (he used an 02 4Runner for a donor) to see what he did: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f160...z-swap-243241/.
