ive be hving too many problems with my 3.0 and decided im just going to do an engine swap. any ideas of what all is needed fr the swap and how much it might cost me

 

Find a donor. If it's has been one thing that I have learned doing engine swaps, it's that it really does make all the sense in the world to have a complete running setup when you start. Easiest way is to find yourself a totaled wreck that runs. Buy the whole truck, take everything you need from it, part out anything that is worth money, scrap the rest for cash(with your old 3.slow) when your truck is back on the road.

Last swap I did was an '01 Lightning S/C 5.4 into a 73 Gran Torino. By the time I had finished it, I had more money into it than it would have cost me to just buy the whole truck.

I never looked into the swap you are talking about doing, so I have no idea what all will be involved. I have been looking into swapping a 1UZ into my 85, but am seriously considering just finding a donor that runs. Atleast wrecked trucks were running when they were wrecked. An engine that someone pulled and left sitting in their garage for months, well, you can only take their word for it whether it runs or not.
