20r to a 22re or chev 350 conversion! is it possible?

ive got a 79 pickup with the old original 20r and 4 speed . i have found a early 90s 4runner with a 5 spd tranny and 22re.

i also have a small block chevy 350 4 bolt main sitting on my shop floor.i have seen adapter plates to mate a 350 to a 5 speed tranny.

i am trying to figure out how much work it will be, what i will need to convert everything, does motor mounts and tranny mounts need to be changed for either swap?

any help or links to other threads would be great!

I was thinking of doing this same swap (350 engine with a turbo 350 tranny), but all the good deals on these engines are too far away for it to be worth the cost. I have found quite a few 22RE's near where I live with the corresponding components. That is the most feasible swap for me to do. Ironically, my 1985 originally came with a 22RE, but someone who owned it before me decided to swap in an 80's Toyota diesel. I believe it is the 2.0, but I am not sure at the moment. Good luck on your swap though.
