2.7L -> 22RE swap

2.7L -> 22RE swap
Good Evening everyone. I have been trying to find a good forums to call home. Hoping this is it. Anyways!
To my question.
Has anyone tried to do an engine swap from a 2.7L to a 22RE?
I was wondering about any emissions issues which may lie within this swap. Like getting O2 sensors that would be compatable, and finding an ECU(PCM). These are some of the questions I would hope someone could answer. I am not sure how much of the emissions is interchangable if any. (Thanks to it being a 1999 I still have to go through emissions _-_ )
I was also wondering about transmission compatibility? I am having difficulty trying to find exactly what type of transmission I have. All I know is it is a 5spd.
Lastly, bolt holes? would they line up or would I have to drill new holes/make new mounts.
Backstory on why the conversion:
I currently own a 1999 Toyota Tacoma with a 2.7L, and have had nothing but problems with it. In the past I have owned two previous Toyota trucks with the 22RE in it, and loved it. Even had one that the previous owner had built himself. Did not seat the seals properly. It still ran like a beast until I left for boot camp and it got stolen.
Thank you for any assistance you can bring!

Fix the 3rz and it will treat you better than the 22re. Some states don't allow motors of older age to be swapped into newer trucks.
But if you're gung ho on swaps I'd say 3.4 swap it.

I was looking at the 3.4, and is a possibity I suppose. What would entail in that?

Thus far I have spent a ˟˟˟˟ ton of money with this irritable ticking. It is a top end problem. I literally have done everything I know how to, to fix the issue. Still it is there. This ticking started like 4-5 months after I got back from a deployment. So, it was in storage(But, the storage we had it at((TMO)) told us they rotated vehicles around. Keeps the tires from goin flat, and lets the engine and such remain lubricated).
Another problem, is the fuel. Within the last year it seems like the fuel economy of this thing has gone to ˟˟˟˟. And yes, I have flushed the fuel system, new fuel filter and tested the fuel pump. I check the fuel injectors, and even went as far as to check the 02 sensors and EGR valve.
Those are the two main problems I am having. (Never had a problem with my old 22re's minus the poor build the previous owner did.)
