I'm blind!

Spent probably the better part of an hour helping a buddy look over the cable on his winch. It's on a 66 Chevy and as you can imagine, the rope was shot. I came to a realization when we were winding it back onto the spool, and that is it sucked! Any good ways of doing that or tips for a winch newb? I think I'm still seeing things move in ways they shouldn't.

Pull it all off and replace with synthetic. Once you use synthetic winch line, you'll never go back to wire rope again!

I would get it from Rockstomper, he's just down here outside of Longmont.
