Pitman arm Flex at steering box

I am finishing up a SAS on my 87 runner, can anyone tell me if there is or will be any flex to the Pitman arm on the steering box?

Trying to avoid moving the steering box as it will interfere with other things on my front end. Everything seems to clear fine, however my pitman arm has very little clearance between the frame and the stud/nut for the pitman arm, as it swings.

If there will be NO flex, then it should be fine, but I am worried that if it flexes even 1/8" it may swipe the frame.

Thoughts? any info is appreciated!

I should add, I don't see any reason for it to flex at that point, but this is my first SAS so Just trying to make the right decision. Again, Thanks for the info!

I'm having trouble envisioning that scenario...my pittman arm has ~4inches above where my stud nuts are...what springs do you have?

4" TG front, 5" rear. Got ahold of Scott at AOR. He said it will be fine, just to make sure the drag link and tie rod clears. Which at this point look good. Gonna flex it out and make sure it is primo, then weld it out this week.

The frame at the steering box will get week after a while
Two years after my Sas went in the frame cracked around the steering box. so I had to weld up the hairline cracks then I added TG's steering box re-enforcement plates.
Worked great and seemed to sharpen up the steering a bit aswell.

Reinforce the frame regardless.

No reason you can't move the IFS box towards to core support as there is nothing in the way. Done it dozens of times.

Yeah, I have the reinforcement Kit, Just wanted to make sure of my position on the steering box before I weld it up.

On my 87 frame, I have about 1/2" before the box will hit the front body mount. To move it any farther forward from there, I would have to cut the body mount and remove a large chunk of Fire wall. My thought was that that 1/2" wont do much for me, However I am so close where it is now, that if I have to move it, That 1/2" will be perfect. Would move it forward and rotate it just a hair. Thank for the info.
