I recently bought a 92 pickup 3.4 swapped and SAS using 82 pickup axles. It is a single case on 4" leaf springs. My front driveshaft slipped out and is not reusable. I took it to a driveline shop and they said it would be a lot cheaper if I brought them a driveshaft they could shorten/lengthen than to build me one from scratch.

From the research I've done on this forum before making this post I know I need a 8-10" long spline kit. But I am unsure if it would be a better option to buy a new shaft from tom woods or buying a 85 or older front driveshaft to extend or a rear driveshaft off any older toyota?

Why isnt your original one reusable? Any parts of it salvageable?

The toyota ends with toyota u joints are incredibly strong. If they could change the length and use a thicker tubing with a long spline that would be a benefit.

Square shaft out of the question?

 

The side that connects to the transfer case is banged up from trying to get the truck off the road before we were able to get tools to take it off. For whatever reason even with hubs unlocked and in H2 the front driveshaft would spin.
The side that connects to the front dif fell off while driving about 30mph and seems reusable to me, but the shop said it wouldn't.
I know square is an option, but in Hawaii we ride sand and don't want vibrations above 5mph

 

The stock drive shafts that I've had only have 4" of spline. So if you want long spline you're going to have to buy it and supply the drive shaft shop you use if they don't have them. Plus pay to get it made. I think you may be better off buying the Tom Woods shaft or check with Jesse at High Angle Drive Line in California.
