well either way the front end out of any suburban will be really wide weather it is a 3/4 ton k20 or a one ton k30 you will not be stret legal. unless you plan on building a dedicated trail rig get a toy axle,

I wouldn't a d44 is much weaker than a toyota axle.
I would check www.craigslist.com in your area. Find a 85 and older toyota someone is selling as a parts vehicle.

it should work is it a 10bolt or d44 you might need to shorten it or run wheel spacers in the rear

You've already found another solution, but...

It could be a good axle. It's probably a Dana 44 and might have flat top knuckles for a high-steer. Should be spring-over-axle. Wheel bolt pattern will match the rear Toyota axle. It's way too wide, of course, but it's not really that hard to narrow one. There are how-to's all over the web about how to narrow an axle.

FYI: Scout axles are a really bad idea for a swap. Axle tubes are smaller diameter than any other Dana 44, diff housing is cast for spring-under-axle, knuckles aren't flat-top, low steer arms are too long for the Toyota IFS steering box, caster angle is zero degrees. It's easier and cheaper to buy a Chevy axle and narrow it (or stick with Toyota...).
