Hello! First off I understand this may be impossible or if possible very unnecessary or challenging .
still I am looking for guidance on This topic to pick anyone’s brain as to how I could make this come to life.
I plan to take the original bed off of the truck and create a metal flatbed expending on its capabilities. Once the bed is off I would like to swap out the original rear axle for a dually axle compatibility if even one at all.
i have don’t some reading and have found little information, though the old 88’ work truck versions or camper versions came with a factory recall dually axle that was made from FORD or used with FORD parts causing issues.
But we are in 2020 and I think it is very much possible to have this build come to life.
if anyone has any opinions or info on this topic I would live some insight !!!!!! Thank you
I just finished my 89 dually toyota’s 3.4 swap and boy, oh boy, it is a pain. The alternator will give you many a headache as it hits the power steering box and has little to no room for adjustment. You may have to get a belt approx. 1” shorter than stock to make it work (we ended up making it work with the stock belt, we tried a shorter belt at 40 1/2” but it was barely too short so a 4 band 41” belt should be perfect. You need to put a 2wd 3.0 oil pan on as the 3.4l oil pan hits the crossmember. We had an issue with our throttle body as it had the 4 prong connecter for tps, the 3 prong is what’s likely on your harness. Lots of little things that just piss you right off because it’s not a problem in the 4wd toyota swaps. The hood won’t fit and you’ll have to do a custom air intake as the stock airbox won’t fit. So much more that I’m forgetting but if you are still trying to get it going feel free to email me at aaronh1234716481638@gmail.com if you have any questions.
