1986 4runner with sas looking for shocks

I'm looking into the pro comp MX-6 RESERVOIR MONO-TUBE ADJUSTABLE SHOCK. My question is what length i need to run? I bought the truck with the SAS done i was told that the leafs are 3inch in the front and i'm not sure what length the shackles are. The rear has stock leafs with an add a leaf and 2 inch shackles. Currently the 4runner has some pro comp shocks on it, but the reason i cant use the measurement from those shocks is they aren't long enough they are limiting travel and i actually ripped a shock hoop off and i had not even taken it off-roading yet. I got the hoop welded back on and reinforced.
so now i'm looking for new shocks any suggestions would help and opinions on shock preference would be great. I looked around and i cant really find any old threads with what i'm looking for but if there is pointing me in the right direction is appreciated, and sorry for asking the question for the millionth time if so.

You should go with a 12" to 14" shock , which all varies due to the extremity of the wheeling that you do.

Take the shocks off and flex the truck out, so the leafs can go through their full range of motion. Then measure the full droop and full stuff, get a shock that meets those measurements.

How long were your old shocks?
