We all know that places that others would hate to go we usually love...I have found that here, in South Sudan, where I am currently working with an NGO on a humanitarian aid mission.

This country is in a bad state. A weak government, a refugee crisis, war, malnutrition, disease...Every thing that can go wrong is. One thing that we would love here on YotaTech however is the complete lack of accessibility!

The area I am currently in has no viable roads, just off-roading. Dirt tracks are considered highways! This area (called Maban,) is described as worse than an island, because at least you could take a boat to an island. Anything coming to this area either has to come by heavy lift aircraft, (mostly Antanov or heavy lift helicopter,) or by river barge and then dirt track roads.

Better than that, almost every vehicle here is a Toyota! I'd say %95 of all vehicles at least are Yota, mostly Land Cruisers in every shape and description. Land Cruiser pick-ups, convertibles, snorkels, bull-bars, VHF radios, and every upgrade you can imagine on some of these vehicles. All I have seen so far are diesel engines.

Unfortunately our small fleet of four aren't so lucky. The engines are field repaired with palm fronds, bamboo, etc, and have awful tires and recovery kit. I will attach photos of the one I want and the ones we have, and let you decide which is which.

I am hoping to put together some sort of appeal to Toyota to upgrade or fix these bad boys, in the name of humanitarian aid. Almost every problem we have in building this refugee camp comes down to the vehicles. I was hoping that someone might have an idea where I could send an appeal like that, maybe pitching it at a publicity stunt. I can just see the commercial now as a pimped out off-road monster air-drops by Antanov transport plane over an active conflict zone!
